Alternator - 80A vs. 115A

OK - the short version of my question is: Is it OK to replace the 80A alternator in my 88 9kT with a 115A alternator? (I've already done it - I just want to know that I'm not doing any damage to anything!).
you can stop reading now, but if anybody wants to read the long version, be my guest.....
I posted about 2 weeks ago with alternator problems. The consensus seemed to be that the voltage regulator was probably at fault so I replaced it. At first that seemed to do the job, although the voltage always took a while to get up above 13 volts and never got much above 13.3 or so (per the EDU). After a week or so, however, the alternator stopped working altogether. I checked all the connections and made sure the regulator was secured properly - all appeared fine.
I happen to have a 115A alternator from my parts car (a 1989 9000T) so I figured it was worth throwing that on and seeing what would happen. I put the new voltage regulator in there since the the brushes on the old one were worn down to almost nothing. After replacing the alternator - which, i might add, i'm getting pretty damn good at now :-) - I started the car up and now have 14v at the EDU. I guess therefore, that the original alternator itself was bad, which I gather is pretty rare, and I'm not sure exactly what would be wrong with it. Anyway, it all seems OK now, provided that the 115A alternator isn't hurting anything.
