If it's damaged in more than one spot, repairs are going to be iffy. The wire is resistive to some extent, and you won't be able to find a suitable replacement. If you're going to be bridging a small gap, just use reasonably flexible wire (I would think 18 gauge or larger would be OK - remember that the wire gets "larger" - greater diameter and current capacity - as the gauge number gets smaller). If you need to bridge any significant gaps, like six inches or more, you'll decrease the resistance of the heater circuit and the controller probably won't be able to regulate the current properly. If you're going to attempt repair, note the position of the thermister (temperature sensor) as you remove the seat cover - if you don't get it back in the right position, the seat could fail to heat enough, or it could over heat and cause the heater element to burn in two again.
