I had the symptom of the gauge reading 'L'. My garage replaced the thermostat, based on the view that it had failed 'open' (which in my experience is very unusual), and pronounced it cured. Once out of the town traffic and onto the open road, the gauge returned to reading 'L'. The garage next replaced the sensor and again pronounced it cured. Again, sadly, once out of the town traffic and onto the open road, the gauge returned to reading 'L'. We have another appointment in a few days time, but have written to the GM asking for a review of the action taken to date: we have already paid out £60 and see little point in allowing them to keep on changing components until they hit on the right one, then asking us to pay!!!
