Hey everyone. I own a 1990 9kT 5sp. with the 2.0 Turbo D.I. I am currently running pretty much as much boost as possible with my current setup and have decent power/acceleration, but if I had a 1991 or 92 with the 2.3 I would have the same power/torque with stock boost. Thus, I am wondering if it's possible to source a 2.3 turbo out of a wrecked/cheap 91/2 and replace my 2.0.
My main concerns are whether the computers from the newer cars will fit the plugs in the '90. I really don't want to have to do much re-wiring. I'm pretty sure that the engine will physically fit into the car, since in some places the '90 was offered with the 2.3. Does anyone know if the aftermarket 3" downpipes are the same for both cars? Also, I do have the resources to do the swap, including willing personnel to help (Clemson Sports Car Club).
FYI, I would rather swap than buy a new car because I have already modified suspension, etc. and have this car setup to handle!! Plus, if I were to buy a newer car, I'd have to pay the extra taxes/title expenses as well as find someone to take the old car. Too much hassle. Easier to get an engine. Any thoughts??
