I put one split poly mount and one new rubber mount on the '86 about one month ago and I did not notice any difference in vibration. The vibration was not that noticeable beforehand. One of the old ones was pretty split up and the other one was in fairly decent shape. As everyone else has said, it did tighten up the shifting.
I replaced both in the '92 automatic several months back with two OEM rubber ones. The old ones were pretty bad. After doing that I do notice some vibration at idle that wasn't there before, but it is fairly mild.
