bg, drilling out the old check valve might work. I guess by now you have realized that what you broke was a check valve. The one on the fuel feed line, (the "outake" as you called it) is very important. The car has a real hard time starting without it, or when it gets weak. The check valve is there to maintain fuel pressure at the motor. I agree with Anders, I'm not sure how imortant the return check valve is. Can you get one second hand? From a junk yard maybe? How are you planning to re-attach the gas line tubing? SAAB makes a special tool. There is some info on Quasimotor's site or maybe Townsend Imports. I can't remember where I saw it. When I did this job I used a short section of regular fuel line from NAPA, hose clamped to the check valve and the fuel line. This MUST be secure and leakproof though, it is essential, both for safety and for proper starting. Good luck.
