Audis are a very nice cars. You have to talk A6 to get anywhere the same room as the 9000 but the quattros are no where near as fast. They may be less prone to unexpected problems but based on what I saw around our dealership, they cost a lot more money to repair and maintain. Every Audi we took in on trade seemed to need 2 or 3 thousand dollars in repairs and most were 3 to 5 years old. We had one customer with a 99 A4 with 100,000 miles who had a repair bill of $10,000. About $5000 of that was for a rear differential(just the part)which very rarely fail. I also saw a lot of new or nearly new cars with the dashboards torn completely out searching for electrical prblems. Two and three thousand dollar repair bills were fairly common. I drive a Saab with 140,000 and I've never spent more than about $600 at one time. The quattro is flat out the best winter driving vehicle you can buy, bar none (sport utes aren't even close). But once you are on a slippery highway, the quattro is good, but it really isn't all that much better than my Saab. At least it's not better enough that I would want quattro the rest of the year. It you lived someplace like the rockies where you truly need all-wheel-drive, it would be different but I'll stick with my Saab.
