I am not a 9000 owner...
So with that out of the way, do you have an outside temperature reading on your SID display?
If so, does it read far higher than youu reaaly think the outside temperature is?
If so, you probably have an outside temperature sensor problem. I don't know where it is on the 9000, but it's in the front bumper on the 9-3 and NG900. So start there first if nobody else knows where it is.
This is a known fault with SAAB. The ACC regulates the temperature by taking into account the outside temperature as well. If it thinks that the outside temp is too high, as in the case of a faulty sensor, it thinks you are crazy to be using the heating instead of the airco... SO it overrides your choice, or goes nuts in your case.
