Brake Bleeding D'oh! Posted by DougM [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Against my norm, I am actually working on my 73 in the cold garage. Well, I do have a heater that I use sparingly, but after working for a bit, it's really not cold anymore.
I installed the Paragon Performance rear stainless brake hoses yesterday, and proceeded to bleed the rear calipers. The RR bled out fine, but I couldn't seem to move any fluid out the left rear. I must have spent an hour and a half farting around with it yesterday and again today. Today I even brought home a mighty vac and still couldn't get any fluid after pumping furiously. I thought I might have air in the master, but also couldn't get any fluid out of the rear fitting....Hmmm...examining the reservoir closer than I did yesterday, it appeared the rear portion was empty(even though the front was almost full to the top). I added fluid all the way to the top, and was a bit relieved when it started bubbling. It seems you must fill the reservoir till it is almost overflowing to get the rear of the reservoir to fill. I never realized the feed was up that high. Mighty vac to the left rear again, and rock hard pedal in less than five minutes.
I'm done for the night!
