What style seal are you putting in?
If you have the old style graphite seat, don't press the impeller on as far as it will go - only as far as it needs to go to clear the cover. If you press it on too far it'll break the seal.
If you have the new style rubber seal for a Triumph it won't break, but will bind up a bit if you go too far. It might be worth it to order a spare (Moss motors has just the upper water seal in stock now, so you don't have to order a whole kit.)
When you get the pump all back together, put the inlet manifold on, and connect all the water hoses and fill with water before you put all the injection lines and alternator and brackets back together - if it leaks it'll be less frustrating to tear back down if you don't have to take everything apart again.
Or is this on your engine that's out of the car already? Might still be worth it to block off the water drains at t-stat housing and fill with water at the pump cover to see if it leaks or not, to make sure you did it right.
I have the factory manual that shows the procedure if you want scans, I will do that now and host them, but I feel like I've seen them here somewhere in another thread before.
Best,
Drew
