And they are also old enough to be germanium transistors and not silicon... very sensitive to voltage and temperature changes. I had a '73 99LE that would refuse to start when the battery voltage dropped below 10.5 at the ECU when cranking.(The injectors would stop triggering.) Bosch claimed that they worked all the way down to 7V, but I don't believe it, from my experience with other cars and the same vintage (Bosch)EFI. Porsche 914s used to put the ECM under the passenger seat, and the cars would have to be towed in for no-starts when they were parked in the sun with the top off...
