Update after all these years.
The car is not yet back on the road, but is close as I need to do body and paint, interior work and then reassembly. What's been done:
- All new suspension from a 1991 SPG
- All new brakes (drilled, slotted and vented), including new calipers
- All new wiring (front to back, not a single strand of original wiring) including new fuse block (went with American Autowire Highway 15 kit)
- Engine/trans out of a 1986 900S (16v FI)
- New gauges (including a GPS speedometer)
- Installed a VintageAir A/C and defrost unit
When it's done, I will have spent far, far, far more than I expected to, but it will be a great getting around car. As part of the readiness, I'll be taking it to a guy that has been working on SAABs for 40 years to make sure that the driveline is as good as it can be.
Right now, I'm just working around the non-rainy days as that is when I can strip/sand the body. If all goes well, I'll have it on the road in September.
