Well. I would say the H motor is an improvement over the B in a few ways. It is about 80 pounds ligher if memory serves, and it solves a number of issues the B had: External waterpump (big improvement), and beter head cooling to name a few. The double row timing chain on the B motor was so over done that they scaled it down to a single on the H- Unfortunately is was a bit too much of a scale down... I would not worry about the chain though. If you are pulling the motor, replace the chain and it will be good for thousands of miles to go. It is not that it was prone to fail, it was just more so than the B chain. As to the additional length of the block, you will have to box/hammer the firewall in a bit for clearance at the harmonic balancer. I have seen a few cars with 16v's and H motors, and it is not too drastic.
I am not sure abou the motor mounts, but the ones you have on your B will bolt right up to the H. I say put in the H. I had determined a long time ago that if my engine had to come out an H would go back in it's place. Good luck, and keep us posted!
