I upgraded my 1976 99 to vented rotors off an 1987 900 turbo. This was a direct bolt-on mod. There was minimal braking performance gain going to vented, it was mostly cosmetic. Plus, I lost some pad thickness, the vented pads are thinner. I love it though, vented rotors look great. I would do it again without hesitation. I linked a thread below when I was doing this.
Now going to 900 hubs, that's a huge improvement. The unsprung weight is much less. I've been driving this car for over 20 years, so I could feel the difference. Plus the wheels now center on the hubs easier.
If you are going to 1988- 900 brakes, there is more involved because the parking brake works on the rear axle.
The biggest braking difference will be felt by changing pads to performance pads. I've had good performance with PBR MetalMasters. Good luck with your mods.
