Brentley hope this will clear up some of the confusion. I bought my 1979
99 GL new. It is a federal model (BI-20PR) which means it was a non california import never had a restricter or cataletic converter or thermostatic hose.
The only factory emisisions on the car were a EGR 2 port system, pulse air injection, crankcase emmission control system standard on all engine families, and evaporative emmision control system standard on all engine
families.
This info is in my owners, and factory service manuals.
These SAABS were designed to use both leaded, and unleaded fuel.
