Here, here. With the high compression pistons and the cost of fuel these days, I figured it was time to install the DI system on my '76 16T car...what a can of worms. I finally got it to work but with the tach lead now going to the LH injection computer via the DI computer rather than the coil, I had no tach. The car was running great, super smooth, quick pickup and smooth all the way to around 7000rpm at which point I stopped...I've never reved the car that high so didn't dare go further. Anyway, I splice in the tach from the TSI socket and suddenly the car won't start. I unplug the new tach lead, it still won't won't start. Apparently, though all test pan out for the LH ECU and the wiring, when the car is turning over, there is no signal being sent to the injectors. WHERE DID IT GO? It's getting beyond me and adding to "just one more thing and she'll be ready for the trip across the country" lingo. You'll get those projects you listed all wrapped up just in time to find a new one. Is this what keeps us so attached.
A guy I work with has been jerked around by this girl for about 7-8 months yet is still more devoted than ever. Jaguar owners are happy with their Ford creations, but that seems to be the problem: Real jaguar devotees revelled in the realization that were they to take their cars our for a long drive, they may not make it home. Our saabs do better than that, but the older they get, the more they have on the brink of breakage. I suppose the challenge of keeping my 28 year old car faster and more fun than the local suped up honda is keeps my blood flowing...
Oh yeah, speaking of blood flow, how 'bout 50 stitches in my left forearm? Plenty of blood flow through that area of the body. Cut it while working on the saab. Dumb mistake. I make movies too...maybe the scar will come in handy.
