Yes Yes Yes. My 99s A/C system is charged with R134a and is much better than the original. Throughout the years, I have "engineered" the system to a very high level and finally made the conversion in April. When I bought my 1975 99 13 years ago, the original "York" compressor was blown and the condensor too. I replaced the compressor with a 5 piston unit designated "SD 508" and modified the bracket for. The condensor was replaced with an aluminium serpentine unit measured 10*23" that is similar to the original and added an extra fan in front of the radiator pack. The extra fan was operated by the compressor and the radiator fan by the radiator's thermo contact and the A/C pressure switch. At this stage of development, I have a 9000 R134a compressor, a bigger parallel flow condensor and another modification to the twin fan system. As it would be to long for the BB, I would be happy to share my practice with you so just click on my name and drop me a line. As I live in Israel, it wouldn't be easy to see the system direct unless you'll fly over and if you will I promise you a guided tour in the country with my 99.
