I'm hoping to keep it in the car so I can keep driving it! That is why I am hoping to find a replacement.
As for fixing it - I pulled out the gauge last night and was trying to take it apart. The thing is, the speedo needle didn't want to pop off of its little post. I didn't want to wreck the thing by prying at it too hard, so I gave up.
I think epoxy + wire might work if I can just get to the gear. It still turns, but it seems like it is supposed to turn an additional post - sort of a post within a post (maybe there is a spline that it is not catching anymore). The broken gear is the one that connects to the main odo spindle and that is inline with the worm gear that turns that other cable running out of the gauge and down to a box thing (What does it do? Tell you when you need service after X miles?). I suppose that if I can get the assembly apart, I'll be able to figure it out.
I'll look online, but if anyone can tell me how to easily pop off the needle, I'd really appreciate it.
