Buy the 3M green tape, which is much improved over the white shade. My body supply store only sells the green stuff anymore. Buy two rolls of 3/4" tape(PN 26334), and at least one roll of the 2" tape(PN 26340), and one roll of 3M fine-line tape for the door jambs, trunk, and under the hood. Also buy a roll of 18" paper, instead of using newspaper.

That's a good idea to lift the seals off the body. If you don't have to remove the windshield and rear glass, don't bother.

I have alot of pics of the cars masked off linked below, and some more here:

Silver is a very translucent color, meaning it takes alot of paint to cover dark spots. If I was you, I'd use a grey primer for the body work. Sealing the car before paint might also be a good idea(epoxy primer). It is easier to paint a car that is all one color, as opposed to trying to paint over varied shades of color. PPG makes an excellent epoxy primer(expensive) which is available in six different colors. DP50LF(gray) is the one I would use if spraying silver. I used their black epoxy under the black 99's paint, and blue epoxy under the blue 99's paint.

Wax and grease remover is also a must buy product, unless you have a shop spray it for you. They SHOULD "wash it down" before spraying any paint.

Saabpics seems to be acting up currently. The links(pics) may work later.
