I'm very excited to have just saved a 1980 99 2-door from the crusher. It's been sitting at a body shop near my home for a while, and every once in a while they'd move it around the yard. On Tuesday, I stopped in and asked if anyone was doing anything with it. "yeah, we're sending it to the squisher on Friday." the short version of the long story is that the owner abandoned it there because he didn't feel like spending any money to fix the rust (decay at the bottom of the doors, and a hole into the trunk from each fender well. The car has brand new michelins, four newer snows in the trunk, started on the first try and was really zippy. so, there's got to be a catch right? Well, here it is--the shift rod comes out. While this may be a great anti-theft feature, I was wondering if there is an easy way to re-attach it, or should I just put in a new shifter/ignition assembly? thanks, Jon
