Also be sure to replace the three sections of fuel hose in the engine bay while you're at it. Incoming line that feeds the fuel rail below the throttle body, the curved section from the fuel rail to the pressure regulator, and the resturn line also. Use a good quality high pressure hose, since the system pressure is 28-30 psi(my 73 runs at 29 psi). The picture below shows where to check fuel pressure if you ever need to do that. If you buy cheap thin walled hose, the hose may kink at the bends and cause problems(not to mention thin walled hose may burst under the pressure). The same goes for the three lines at the tank/pump. It might also be helpful to make a diagram of the hose routing in the back before you remove any hose, for reference later. Don't try to make the hoses longer as they may kink, since there are a few bends back by the pump. Might not be a bad idea to replace the fuel filter too, that is if you can find someone who carries that one < square design that hooks into the pump mounting cover. The pic I have linked shows a half-arse filter the previous owner installed, holding it in place with electrical tape. I have since replaced it witht the correct filter.

After replacing the rear hoses, leave the pump shield loose from the body, letting it hang away. Keep an eye on the pump for any leaks, since it's not uncommon for the o-rings to go bad and cause leakage at the seams at the top of the pump.
