I would suggest as other's have that you remove the fuel pump. The relay really seems to either work or it doesn't. It "could" be heating up and then shutting off but I doubt it. It is probably a situation where you have gunk in the tank and it is clogging the pickup or pump itself. If you let the car sit for a bit with the pump off, some of the clogging material floats away, so to speak. When you fire it back up, the pump starts pulling it back to the clog zone. Check that out first, as it is a common problem with any car that has been sitting a while.
Did you say you removed the accumulator? did you put it back on? I think you need that.
