rebuild, fork in the road

thought i'd post about what's going on w/ my '77 ems project. so dan mc.d has sort of mentored me through a couple years of getting this thing back on the road. so far, the rebuilt stock 2.0 engine is back in the car w/ a new MSS header and exhaust, but a couple issues still need attention:
getting alot of valve tapping when hot and
there is a leak in or around (one of) the clutch seal(s) up front.
At the moment, it is at a shop waiting for the word on what will be required and total cost. I had taken it in cuz i just don't have the inclination to do those jobs by myself.
My mechanic claims to have a low miles 5-speed(8V)turbo B-motor which came out of his '78T. it's been sitting for 10-15 years, but apparently ran great before he removed it. (he wants $800 for it.) I would have to drop this in my EMS myself to save some $$, but it is tempting. I'm told this is a direct bolt up w/ very few mods.
Will my MSS header work with a B-turbo engine? What about converting the shift hardware to accommodate the 5 spd? I've heard more of people swapping in a 16V turbo than the 8V into the 99's (with some firewall mods required.)
thx.,
scott
