Trying to recall, being 42 miles from my stash of manuals...
If one is trying to convert, I wouldn't do the Saab system, certainly not the 99/early 900 system. The later hall effect works very well, though.
There's a company that makes a drop-in electronic ignition. Basically it replaces ("drops-in") where the points go, and when set up, the car still looks stock. I can't recall the name of the company that sells it, though. Search here, or try the Vintage BB. I know that was pretty big a while back for the V4 & stroker crowd.
