If you were only getting one, I'd say definitely get the 10-75 range. I have both and I use the 3/8" regularly, and rarely use the 1/2"
I just put back together the B engine in my 1980 900T. Many of the bolts need torquing less than 20 ft lbs. for example the bolts that hold the intake manifold to the head are only spec'd for 13 ft lbs. It's easy to over tighten these bolts and compress the gaskets too much.
The one that you need the 1/2" for is the large main pulley bolt. That's spec'd for 137 ft lbs. I usually just guess on that one. I just get it as tight as I can with the 1/2" breaker bar. just my $0.02. I don't know if the pros bother with a torque wrench on a lot of the stuff. I like to use it for bolts that press gaskets.
It's probably handy to have both. I don't think it would redundant if you bought both sizes.
