If the 4 speed is a later version (78 on) you will probably be better off with it than with the 5 speed from an 83. I suppose it depends on how you drive, though. If you plan on freeway mostly then enjoy the 5th gear. If you want quickness and less risk of tranny destruction, stick with the 4. With the 83 turbo motor you can keep all the fuel system you already have. It will work fine. You'll have to get a downpipe fabricated to fit the 99 engine bay with that turbo but can possibly use the 900's exhaust from there back if the 83 has one that isn't bad. You'll have to mod the firewall some and the brake booster but it isn't the end of the world. Oh, as well, the front cover on the 5 speed won't fit in the 99 so if you choose to go that route many can chime in to let you know how to make it work. Good luck and lets hear it for folks that know us well enough to give us projects we love.
