I've got a '77 EMS daily driver (I've been driving it daily for 4 years now) and I'm going to be doing some upgrades over the next couple of years.

One of the things on the list are new seats. I like the easy in/out of the stock driver's seat - if possible I'd like to retain the seat mount with the new seats. Have any of you managed to cut/weld etc and make the stock seat base work with a new seat? Welding and fabricating is no problem, but looking at the seat when I had it out last I don't see an easy way to cut the base down, <and> make the seat sit a bit lower (I'm 6'2" tall) <and> retain the stock slide lock mechanism. I can see unbolting the seat/base from the sliders and fabricating new mounts for the new seat, but I'll have to deal with the slide lock separately at that point.

Also - anyone in the greater puget sound area have a good B motor and/or trans for sale? I'm on the fence between moving to an H motor and sticking with the B, and I'd sure like to have a spare trans. Gear drive ok - I like the gear spacing/drive ratio on the gear drive trannys.
