Install a brand new set of narrow tires in the front, preferably 155 SR 15, if you can find them. Pump them up to around 25 PSI. I know 1968 models had separate grease nipples at all the ball joints. If that is still the case with your 1969 model, give all of them a good shot with a grease gun: upper and lower ball joints, tie rods and most importantly, the steering rack.
Doing all of this will make a noticeable difference on an average car.
