i have a 1968 96, and since i bought it last march, the fuel gauge is always pinned at full. as a result i sat by the side of the road this morning for a little while. (i was on the way to the gas station for a 250 mile fill-up.) the previous owner removed the gas tank, fiberglassed it somehow, and reinstalled it, off center.
i have a spare tank i removed from a 72 96, with a little rust at one end and where the hoses attach. does anyone have experience/opinions about fiberglassing tanks so the sending unit still works, or other methods of protecting old tanks such as the kit sold by eastwood company?
don, i hope i have not diverted too much from your question. i'd love to understand how the sending unit/fuel gauge circuit works, and i am no electrician.
and thanks to everyone who writes on this board, i've been reading for months and it's of great value.
