They are medium weight gasket paper... go to Savage KOI on maple ave. in hamilton and pick up a couple yards of it and you'll be set to do a few sets of carbs... probably more than you'll ever need. put a new gasket in each time you change the manifold. you just take the original gasket, trace it and cut it out. not an exact science... just make sure that your surfaces are preped! I have aproximatley 2.7 sets of carbs (34 w2) for these cars now. When you're buying/looking at these carbs there's one rule of thumb to decide trash vs. worthwhile. does the spring in the throttle shaft still work? what i mean is this. turn the plate at the end of the throttle plate to open them up... release. does it have a spring to push it all back? if not the shaft is too worn to attempt rebuilding the carbs on that throttle plate.
Also, a good way to help these carbs is to drill out the main jet carriers, drill each hole to 3/32" if you go to big you'll be in trouble... so be careful.
On a note... i was at chip lamb's today in VA and he showed me NOS rebuild kits for these carbs.... i was drooling like a madman... he'll never use them, but they are a hell of a show and tell peice. they are extremely rare!
New jets, needle valves, gaskets, screws, the works.... cant' say i'd kill for them... but it sure was neat!
