Early and late slave cylinders

I have seen pictures of the early model Girling slave cylinders used on the 93's, 95's & 96's (two-stroke gear boxes?)and they look slightly different than those used on the later 95 & 96's (V-4 gearboxes). Can anyone tell me if the early and late models of slave cylinders are interchangeable? Is there anyone in England or other that can supply new slave cylinders for these older Saab cars? Thanks!
