When my 1971 Saab '95 arrived, it started after we rolled it off the truck. It started and ran again that evening and one time about a week after that. Never again. Sometimes when I turned on ignition switch, I could hear the ticking sound of the electronic fuel pump that had been installed (along with a manual choke and a K&N air filter on a sparkling clean carb) by the previous owner. A couple of times, though, it sounded like a jackhammer was in the engine compartment. After then, the most I could get out of the pump was one click each time I turned the key.Gauges and lights all worked, so I put in a new electric fuel pump, but nothing changed.Lately, the warning lights come on unpredictably before the fuel pump clicks once and the engine turns over.I've cleaned all the fusebox terminals and the ends of the connecting wires and have sprayed all electircal connection points with CRC Electronic Cleaner, but nothing. My test lamp only lights up for fuses 1-4 fuses 1,2,3,4 ,so I connected the fuel pump to fuse 1,but the new fuel pump still gives only one click each time the key is turned. The battery's charged, there's fresh gas in the tank.Any suggestions? I don't want it sitting dead all winter.
Thanks for reading all this,
J's 95
