The seat belts on my 1972 96 consist of fairly standard two-piece rear belts (bolted to the chassis under the back seat bottom) that have a clasp very similar to an airline seat belt (lift the top to release). There are two sets of these to seat two people in the rear.
The front seat belts are much different - they are seat belt/shoulder belt combination with a pincher-type clasp that is clipped to a steel loop bracket between the two front seats. The front belts are bolted to the floor behind each front seat and attached to the B-pillar at top and are manually adjusted for length.
I had a company named SnakeOyl (seat belt manufacturers) take my clasps and replace the webbing with new, more modern-type belts. I also had them add some length to the belts to accomodate my larger size. Not cheap but I feel safer knowing the webbing is new and not dry-rotted.
If you replace the front belts with more standard two-piece types you will have to find a way to anchor one side to the floor in the front where the original belts used the pincher clasp/steel loop arrangement.
