Oh my God.
You don't even HAVE an engine, and thus haven't driven this car down an interstate at all - and yet you've already decided that you don't like the way it drives????
And it's a 93F on top of that???
I will not hold my peace anymore - what you're thinking about doing is nothing short of lunacy. Get a bullnose 850 engine, restore it and do some clever porting, and i PROMISE that you will NEVER think about replacing it again. If you go through with this thing you're talking about, and then get to drive the real thing, you're going to curse the day you thought your idea up.
Finding an engine is really not that difficult. If you don't find one in the US, get one from Sweden. They are plentiful here, and cheap - just this weekend I picked up a complete 850 engine w/ a 4-speed tranny for free, and that's not an uncommon scenario. An engine only weighs some 150lbs so freight to the US (by boat) isn't an expensive deal - and if you choose to purchase a known good unit, it'll likely cost you no more than some $200-$250. A competition tuned engine can be had for a couple hundred more.
