93 drum brake upgrade info and ?'s >>>

I am figuring this out. I am planning to upgrade to later drum brakes on the front of my 93B. I now have the front hub assemblies from a '67 stroker and have discovered - by reading the manuals- that the 96's have larger front brakes than the 93's. I now hope I can use the complete '67 front hubs and brakes with axle shafts from an early 96 to mate with the rubber inner 'CV'.
Anyone know if this works? Are the 3 spd and 4 spd trans' same width and rubber joints as the later 4 spd with rubber joints?
Type III self adjusting front drum brakes - Any problems with the self-adjusters?
