"Hello Dave,kansas & Kskid,
Dave, have you looked into Ford Capri 2300/2600cc V-6 valves? As you may know the 1498cc and 1698cc V-4 engines are basically 2/3 of the 2300cc and 2600cc V6 engines.
Other than the open-deck/closed deck versions of the blocks, I have been told that one only has to change the crankshafts to go from one V-4 version to the other (swap the crank out of a 1698cc and install in a 1498cc engine to end up with a 1698cc engine or vise versa)."
I think the valves are the same for 1.5 vs 1.7, and also the same for the Capri V6. I also think there are two versions of valves depending on the type of keepers, some have 1 groove and some have 2 or 3. As to the crankshaft swap I do know that the main difference between 1.5 and 1.7 engines is stroke and consequent difference in compression, but cannot verify for you that there is no other difference. I think the folks at Northern Power Products can sort out these variations for you.
Once you get this clear in your own mind, please do us the favor of reporting back your findings.
