I pulled a Sonett 300 miles...

...No problems. I anchored the towbar to the bumper after first pading and protecting the Sonett bumper with carpetting, then wood 1x4's. I tied the towbar ends to the car using 4 800lb ratchetting tie downs (2 on each side). Placed tranny is neutral because the free wheel on this Sonett is welded. After not moving for 15 years, this car pulled smooth as silk and my Jeep got 19 MPG on this trip.
Might I suggest you allow the free wheel to spin free on this tow and ALSO place the car in nuetral?
Either way, you will be fine.
