I checked the Redline site and think I see the product you are referring to. It is a gear lube (GL5) made for differentials, which have A) a different gear design with different lubrication requirements from transmission gears (which typically call for GL4), and B) no brass parts (synchronizers) which can be damaged by the additives required of GL5 lubricants, and C) shift quality is sometimes adversely affected because the synchronizers behave differently operating with the additives of a GL5 formulation.
If you're not confused yet, I'll try a little more. Many lubricants, including many from Redline, carry multiple specification ratings, ie GL4/GL5, and should be satisfactory in any application calling for either. The LGL is one of these. I would happily use it if it improved shift quality to my taste. Otherwise I would use Redline MTL, not only in my Saab but in most vehicles.
