Hi Don, Yes, I figured it out, and my 69 S-v4 is running quite nicely. I'm at work now with all my notes at home.. but here goes:
Basically the ballast resistor was on the POSITIVE side of the coil. The bosch blue coil (kit bought from Chip) was internally ballasted. Looking at the instruction included in the Pertronix kit (1847A or 1847V from memory...) showed the different installations with/without the Ballast Resistor.
I made a drawing before doing anything!!! There was 1 wire going "in" to the BR, and then 1 short wire going "out" to the + side of the coil.
On my car ( 69 Sonett V4 ), I traced the wiring... and simply removed the BR, and the short wire (that went to the plus side of the coil) and connected the original wire that went "in" to the BR directly to the + side of the coil.
Of course, I cleaned / re-soldered the wires and nice new connectors...
SHE PURRS LIKE A KITTEN.... WITH ABSOLUTELY NO TACHOMETER BOUNCE.
Enjoy!
R/ Mike
