Heh! Well Warren, where do we begin...
Old Saabs are like fine women, they need constant Tender Love and Care.
1st: You'd be hard pressed to find a 92 (in any condition) or a 93 in "cherry" condition (for sale)... The few 93s that are around are mostly restored and those that have them... don't want to let them go. Now I'm sure you may be able to find some rotted out hulks.
2nd: I've never owned any of the strokers, but have many friends that do. they love them! They are a blast to drive and ride in, and help keep away the mosquitos!
3rd: I've been mostly a V4 guy for the last 15 or so years. I can attest they are friggin' awesome!
Any way you decide to go, don't think that you'll be able to just get one, and not have to tinker every 6 months or so.
Some places you might try to find some vintage SAABs for sale:
Chip Lamb at West of Sweden (Richmond, Virginia)
Bud Clark at J&B Imports (SoCal)
Jack Ashcraft (Oregon)
Tom Donney (Ft. Dodge, Iowa)
Hell, on Fleeebay, there was recently a stroker Sonett that went for over 16 grand!
But search around the links on this site, and also the site for the Vintage SAAB Club, and VSAAB, you should be able to start getting some info.
Good Luck!
R/ Mike
