68 saab 96, is it worth it? opinions please.

i have an old sonett and am not familiar with the 96's at all, so please excuse my ignorance. i have a chance to purchase a 68 saab 96 for roughly 1100 asking price. it was a new mexico car, noo rust anywhere, most orig paint, few dents and scratches, v4 with the two barrel, soccerballs, interior is pretty rough from the outdoor storage heat damage. from a sonett stantpoint, i can see the strongpoints are the two barrel, soccerballs and locking gas cap, anything else i should look for. whats the diff between standard and deluxe models. engine needs a little work, one of the timing gears stripped, but i have a spare v4 already and it does come with a couple of spare parts, please sabbers, let me know your opinions, good or bad, thanks for the input, John
