My father Geoff Waters used to be a regular on saabnet and its boards for close to a decade.
Sadly he died of a heart attack back in May. It sort of came out of nowhere.

I have very little knowledge about cars, and to be honest he was sort of my answer man, and my Mr. Fix it. But not I need to figure it out for myself.

I got in my car this afternoon and turned the key, nothing happened. All the lights on the panel came on and make rather strange kind of buzzing and clicking noises, the lights would come on but they would be really dim. The car wouldn't start or even make a sound when I tried to engage the engine. The power locks didn't even work when I tried to lock the car up.

My coworker drove me home, and when I got home, there is zero juice in it. I have zero power.

I am also currently parked in a stall in an apartment complex with cars on either side of me, and one parked in front of me facing toward in me in the opposite row.

People keep saying lots of different things to me. Electrical short, circuit issue, dead battery, alternator.

My amazing saab mechanic is over 30 miles from my home.

I guess I have several questions. Everyone and there mother has told me a large list of things to do.

1. Do I get somebody to jump it and see how long the charge lasts, and try to get it to my mechanic to get analyzed.

2. People say take the battery out and get it analyzed at your local auto place. Well.. Ive never removed a car battery from any car let alone a saab, not sure of the proper handling or care of one.

3. People say get a jump pack and keep it with you so that you can jump it when it fails.

I guess this is my issue. I cant afford a tow to my body shop.

1. What is the best course of action here.
2. If its more serious then just a dead battery, if I get it jumped and I dont turn the car off, how long will it go?
3. Any other thoughts, or pearls of wisdom.

My father swore by saab net, I'm hoping someone can give me a few pointers here.
