From what I've heard and read, I think this may depend on what your plans are for your vintage Saab. For a show car (Concours), it should be the factory size tires like those from VREDESTEIN or Coker Tire. Many go for squeezing an even larger tire than the 175 65 15 for performance reasons. In other words, personal preference.
The other factor here is the condition of your springs. If they are sagging at all, you may need to fix that before going to a larger size tire.
I don't think anyone will fault you for your tire choice. Go with what you like and your budget allows. I've got an older set of 165/15's now that came with the car when I got it almost two years ago. The tread looks almost brand new and while there's no evidence of dry rot, the rubber seems hard and old so I'll probably go for a new set of 175 65 15's soon.
