Sorry Larry, I wasn't meaning to be cryptic. I'm pretty sure there is no drop-in replacement. Possibly the closest thing is an early 99 radiator which is wider but can be fitted, I have not done this but that is my information. I do not know what years of 99 radiators fit.
A recore may be your best bet. You might find a better price but the 300 you state does not sound way out of line. Given the heating issues that V4s are prone to, I would be looking for a bigger core if you have to go that way. You did not state why you need to fix the radiator, do you have overheating issues or what?
Gary Piland in Topeka had a custom radiator made which IRRC solved his overheating issues. I'm sure it was not cheap but may not have been vastly more than your recore quote. You can find his report in the archives complete with source and pictures.
The other route would be to take the radiator, or preferably the whole car, to a radiator shop that has been in operation for a million years and has a million old radiators lying around, and see if something can be made to fit. The guy you want is the one who says, when you walk in with the radiator in your hand, "Oh, a V4 Saab, huh? I haven't seen one of those for twenty years." You may find something reasonably close. Inlet and outlet nipple positions can be altered by a skilled operator. I changed the bottom nipple on my 95 to point straight back instead of down, allowing use of a simple 90deg hose instead of that pesky U-bend that is hard to find.
The other route
