Hello, hello!
Replacement of the lowers does NOT require spring compression. It's a 3 bolt job that can be done in about 15 min per side.
The uppers are a different story. Spring tension MUST be dealt with. Best way is to use a Saab spring compression tool. In lieu of that, you MAY be able to get away with a cheap spring compressor, since you're not removing the spring, just taking tension off it. Please understand that the energy in a Saab spring can literally take your head off!!! So safety is the primary concern. After years of fooling around and taking chances, I FINALLY broke down a couple of years ago and bought a mondo spring compressor that is a JOY to work with. It's safe, it works, and will last a lifetime. Check out eBay item #400010418839. You will not be sorry if you purchase this item! Know that VSaab front springs are notoriously difficult to take off, if you ever need to. This is one of the few tools that WORKS. Enough said.
