First Gear Grinding SOMETIMES Posted by BAAB [Email] (#1214) [Profile/Gallery] (more from BAAB) on Sat, 6 Dec 2008 13:34:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
On my '72 96 V4, I have noticed that when I first start the car from cold and for the first 30 minutes or so I can push in the clutch pedal in and slide it into 1st gear without a noise, but after that, it will grind pretty badly MOST all the time. Sometimes it's as if i'm trying to put it in 1st gear without pressing the clutch pedal at all, except that I am. I replaced the clutch slave, but not the master. The clutch fluid is full. What all might this be? I do think the motor mounts are getting weak - does that have anything to do with it? Should I replace the master for starters? I would like to run the car for a few months(through winter) before pulling the power plant to do the mounts (and other things that need work soon) Thanks for the help!.
