My '72 96 V4 has not been letting me put it in first gear. I press the clutch & hear a weird noise and I am not able to put it in first. Well after accidentally trying to start the car while in reverse, the problem is totally gone. There's no noise, and it goes into all the gears perfectly. What? This was a problem that was happening all the time. What did starting the car in reverse and rolling back(luckily there was no one behind me) do that would possible fix my clutch/shifting problem? Thanks
