After trying several pumps the best one I found with regard to consistant fuel delivery, reliability and low noise is the SU pump. Not an original but the new ones (solid state)that Moss Motors sell. Very quiet and no vapour lock problems (important here in Texas). One interesting feature:the pump is solid state (no points etc.) so to keep from un-nerving us older guys used to the "clicking" noise one usually hears while the pump pressures up, the new pumps have a simulated clicking noise to put ones mind at ease. Very similiar to new digital cameras that make a shutter click noise even though there is no shutter. I guess in time as we die off the simulated shutter noise can be eliminated since most younger folks wouldnt know a shutter if it bit them. Anyway, only down side to the SU (Standard Union)pump is the cost :( Around $250 or so. Well woth the cost though. I liked the one I put on my 63 96 so much that I replaced the 50+ year old SU pump on my 52 MG. Just Google Moss Motors and look in one of their MG catalogues to see the pump. Good Luck !
