V4 head retorque?

Once again seeking group wisdom
My V4 engine of unknown history has been running fair for 5000mi since I got it. After solving the valve cover leaks with silicone gaskets, it seems there is still a bit of seepage. I believe it is coming from the head gasket. It is not spraying out but enough runs down to collect on the front motor mount and behind #4 plug on a protruding portion of the block.
I am wondering if it is wise to re-torque the head, not knowing how old the gaskets may be. If so, what is the proper procedure? I have the sequence and specifications from the manual.
I assume the bolts must be broken free before applying the proper torque. Should they be removed one at a time and cleaned and/or lubricated before re-tightening?
So far the leak is cosmetic. I don't want to risk making it worse.
Anyone experience this? How did it work out?
TIA Tom
