Personally, I would forget about finding a Ford carb. They work, but there are certainly better alternatives that provide better reliability, performance, and fuel economy.
For a bolt-on recommendation, go with a single barrel Weber 34ICH. You have to add a manual choke for this particular carb. You can buy them from a number of places. Jack Ashcraft has written a book on how to install this carb on pretty much any vintage V4. Chip Lamb at West of Sweden sells a complete kit. I have one on my '68 Deluxe 96 and one on my '73 Sonett and they are great improvements!
A more complicated approach is to add a two barrel carb, such as a Weber 28/32 DCV. This requires a two barrel manifold. I have this setup on my '74 Sonett. Jack Lawrence at Motor Sport Service has a complete kit for a Weber 40 two barrel, including the intake manifold. Unless you port the heads and use a better exhaust, you won't get the big performance improvement.
In sum, most replace the old leaky FoMoCo carb with a bolt on Weber 34ICH. You won't regret it!
